This massage concentrates on the stiffness release and pain relief in the neck, upper and lower back areas. This is done by applying the right pressure on the trigger points, which are small, painful, tight-knotted nodules of fibrous muscles that lead to chronic pain. The pain radiates sharply over the larger surfaces along the shoulder and the back. The neck massage would include pressing the fingertips into the central area of the skull base and over the spine. When the fingertips provide the pressure, the recipient is asked to move their head sideways and also upwards and downwards. Slowly a gliding motion would be used along the spine till the upper back. The top area of the Scapula, shoulder blade and the middle edge area near the spine are eased using finger pressure. Knuckles and fingers are used to apply pressure inside-out from the middle till the sides of the waist.
